Safeway Cold Storage HWA assisted with the retrofitting of over two-hundred (200) variable frequency drives (VFD) for the Safeway cold storage and distribution center in Tracy, California. All of the motor control centers in the facility had across the line starters, but Safeway was looking to improve the plant efficiency and receive energy-saving rebates from their local utility. New VFDs reduced costs and increased energy efficiency.
Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation With the help of Intec Solutions in Reno, Nevada, HWA assisted in the retrofitting of numerous 500 horsepower (HP), 18-pulse, variable frequency drives (VFDs) to ultra-low harmonic VFDs at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility. The original drives had been installed in 1990, so special cabling and cabinet retrofitting was required to replace the obsolete VFDs with newer, smaller ones. The project required a coordinated effort to replace and commission the drives to prevent shutting down the entire facility for any length of time.
San Joaquin Valley Deep Wells Power quality is a concern as many large, high-performance, variable frequency drives (VFD) are being installed throughout the San Joaquin Valley to combat drought conditions. In one of these installations, HWA worked with All Phase Electric and Danco Electric to provide numerous harmonic filters by Mirus to deliver clean power for deep-well water applications.
