Rava Ranch
HWA has worked in conjunction with Kirell Energy to provide generator paralleling switchgear for three (3) 1,200 kilowatt, 12,470-volt natural gas engine generators for Rava Ranch.
This supports a large cold-storage building to freeze fresh spinach, lettuce, garlic, and red onion.

The plant will operate during peak demand periods offering Rava Ranch a lower-cost source of electrical power for their facilities. However, the plant also communicates with the California ISO facility in Folsom, California, and
is critical for maintaining the reliability and accessibility of California's power grid. Rava Ranch can remove its load from California's power grid and switches to on-site electrical power generation upon requests by the ISO.

New Stanford Hospital
HWA, and its partner Schneider Electric, have been working over the past two-years to provide critical Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) and generator paralleling switchgear for new hospital planned to open in 2018.  We have worked closely with Sasco Electric, who has a design-build contract with the joint venture of Clark Construction and McCarthy Construction. The central standby plant involves five (5) 2,000 kilowatt engine generators operating at 12,470-volts.

We are also supplying fifty (50) bypass/isolation automatic transfer switches to move loads between the public power utility and on-site standby generators. Our equipment is being produced and tested at our factories to support planned commissioning in late 2016.  We have also supplied two (2) 400 kilowatt UPS systems to support the critical IT infrastructure of the hospital.

UCSF Mission Bay
HWA, started working at the beginning of this project with Arup Consulting Engineers in San Francisco, California.
After a two-year design phase, we joined the construction team along with Peterson Power, a local Caterpillar engine dealer, and Rosendin Electric.

Our role was to provide engine generator paralleling switchgear to control three (3) 2,500 kilowatt, 480-volt engine generators supporting the hospital’s complete standby power needs.  Every electrical circuit in the hospital is supported by this system.  Along with the switchgear, we supplied a twenty-seven (27) closed transition automatic transfer switches to control all of the loads in the hospital.  With the closed transition feature of these transfer switches, the operating engineers can test the system without interrupting the hospital's loads.
